Tractor Deck Belt Replacement - McCulloch

You may change and replace the belt without dismounting the whole cutting deck. However, this procedure is much easier if you remove the deck, placing it on a worktable.

Park your tractor on an even surface, engage and lock the parking brake, and lower the deck.

Disconnect the belt tension cable in the middle of the deck like this. Remember that this cable is spring-loaded, so ensure that you have a firm grip on it.

Remove the belt from the front pulley as shown, then unfasten the front locking spring and lift off the bar.

Unfasten the locking springs from the tractor's frame on both sides, and then the rear springs on the deck.

Pull out the deck on the left-hand side of the tractor. When this is half removed, unfasten the spring of the belt tension cable, and the deck can now be fully removed.

Mount the new belt as shown from the front of the deck.
