McCulloch Chainsaw Bar and Chain One Screw System

This is how you handle the bar and chain of your chainsaw.

Start by disassembling the bar. The bar is fastened in the connection housing by its tightening hand screw and a lever. Release the lever and unscrew the hand screw. Remove the housing, push the bar back, and lift off the chain starting from the tip of the bar.

This is how you reassemble the bar. The bar is reversible and, as you can see, it is equipped with upper and lower holes for chain tension.

Push the bar back towards the drive until it engages. Carefully check the cutting direction of the chain. The sharp edge must be facing forward on the top side of the chain.

Start by threading the chain on the drive unit, then adjust it forward onto the bar. Check that the chain runs freely in the lower track when you pull the bar forwards.

The housing contains a chain tensioner and adjustment screw. Carefully check that the tension piece fits into the hole in the bar.

Start with the screw in the rear position. Tighten the handle slightly by hand. Adjust the chain tension.

Lifting up the tip of the bar, tighten fully by hand. Check the tension of the chain like this: you should be able to lift the chain approximately 1 cm, and it should run freely.

Note: Always check the tension of the chain when refueling your chainsaw. If it is too slack, there is a risk that it can come loose and disengage.
