Stihl Leaf Blower

If you're thinking about purchasing a Stihl blower for work around your home, farm, or ranch but you aren't sure which one to choose, here are a few helpful tips to help you make the best decision.

First, ask yourself these four questions:

How big is the property that I need to clean?
What kind of material do I want to blow?
Are there any noise restriction issues that I need to take into consideration?
And finally, are there any special features that I want my blower to have?

Let's take a look at each of these questions.

If you live in an urban setting that has minimal areas that need to be cleaned, such as a driveway, sidewalk, or patio, and you'll be blowing grass clippings or other light materials such as dried leaves, then the BG55 would be an excellent choice. If you want to step up to a couple of popular features like simplified starting and Easy2Start, grab a hold of the BG56 C-E.

Both of these units are comparable in power and performance.

The BG55 has a standard starting procedure of placing the on/off switch to the on position, blocking the throttle trigger, and then manually operating the choke throughout the starting process.

With the simplified starting system on the BG56 C-E, the on/off switch always defaults to the start position, so you won't need to worry about that, and you only need to set the choke once. When the unit starts and you flip the throttle trigger, the choke will automatically switch to the run position and you'll be ready to go. The Easy2Start feature enables users to start the engine with an almost effortless pull on the cord.

If you have a large rural property with lots of area to clean, again typically wanting to move grass clippings and lighter debris, you'll want to consider moving up to the BG86 or the BG86 C-E.

With more power, these units are considered professional products, and they both feature the simplified starting process as well as an advanced anti-vibration system.

In addition, the BG86 C-E also comes equipped with the Easy2Start feature.

If you plan on using your blower for an extended period of time, you may get fatigued using a handheld blower. We would recommend that you try the BR 200 backpack blower. That lets you bear the weight of the unit on your back, which is ideal for long run-time situations like this.

If you're blowing heavier debris such as wet leaves, or if your area to clean is extremely large, such as a farm or ranch, you may want to consider the BR 350 backpack blower, loaded with lots of power for those really big jobs.

Finally, if noise restrictions are an issue, Stihl has a low-noise gasoline-powered handheld consumer blower, the BG66 L, or you can choose from one of the Stihl cordless or corded electric models.

One last tip: when considering purchasing any of our Stihl products, don't forget to take a close look at the hand tags. They are great instant resources to learn more about each of the units and which special features they have to help you make the choice that best fits your needs.

So remember, if you're looking to purchase a Stihl blower, ask yourself these four basic questions:

How large is the property that needs to be cleaned?
What materials need to be blown?
Is noise an issue?
And lastly, are there any special features that I want my blower to have?

Once you've answered these four basic questions, you'll be well on your way to selecting the correct blower that's right for you.
