Westinghouse digital inverter generators are a powerful, quiet, eco-friendly, and efficient solution to your portable power needs.
This video will help you get your new digital inverter up and running. As always, be sure to read the provided owner's manual and Quick Start Guide before use and observe all safety guidelines.
To begin, you'll need a utility knife, fresh clean unleaded gasoline, a Phillips head screwdriver, and the funnel and four-cycle engine oil included in your packaging.
To open, carefully cut along the sealing tape, then remove any items packed in the top of the box. Next, carefully lift the unit from the box.
To add engine oil, first locate the engine service panel. Refer to your owner's manual to identify the correct panel. Carefully loosen the screws and remove the panel to access the oil fill plug.
Remove the dipstick plug. Then, using the supplied four-cycle engine oil and funnel, slowly add the engine oil to the engine until full. Be careful not to overfill, as this may cause oil to spill from the fill hole.
Return the dipstick plug and tighten firmly. Then reinstall the service panel.
To add unleaded gasoline, first make sure the area around the gas cap is clean and that you are in a well-ventilated area. Then unscrew the cap.
Depending on the type of gas can you're using, you may need to insert a clean funnel. However, newer no-spill gas cans are typically designed to be used without funnels.
Add clean, fresh unleaded gasoline to the fuel tank slowly and carefully. Be sure not to overfill. The gasoline level should never be higher than the filler neck.
Secure and tighten the gas cap.
To start your generator, first make sure nothing is plugged into the power outlets. Next, make sure your generator is in a safe, dry, open, and well-ventilated area at least 15 feet from any building.
If your unit is equipped with a fuel tank vent, turn it to the ON position. If equipped with a fuel valve, turn it to the ON position.
Rotate the engine fuel control switch to the CHOKE position. Firmly grasp the recoil handle and pull it slowly until you feel increased resistance, then pull rapidly away from the inverter.
This may take more than one pull, especially if you're starting your generator for the first time or if it has previously run out of gas.
Once the engine starts and begins to stabilize, move the choke switch back to the RUN position. Let your inverter run for a few minutes to stabilize the engine before plugging in the item you wish to power.
When shutting down your generator, first remove any connected loads from the outlets and allow the inverter to run at no load to slow and stabilize the engine and alternator.
Then move the engine fuel control switch to the OFF position. If your inverter is equipped with a fuel tank valve, turn it to the OFF position. If equipped with a fuel tank vent, turn it to the OFF position.
To stop your generator quickly in the event of an emergency, quickly turn the engine fuel control switch to the OFF position.
Following these important steps, along with the information in your Quick Start Guide and user's manual, will improve the performance and reliability of your new Westinghouse digital inverter generator.
