Today we're going to learn how to cut a straight line with a plasma cutter.
The first step in the process is the setup. If you're not set up right, you're definitely not going to be able to cut a straight line.
So I have my homemade little table that I use to cut. I have my tool with my straight edge and my clamping system that holds it down. You can see it's pretty much a right angle, or the angle I want to use to cut it, and my surface is nice and stable.
Safety is always important. Make sure you wear glasses.
I'm going to do a little dry run first before I actually cut, just to make sure that everything's in the right spot. So I'm going to find the correct angle and the distance that I want, and I'm just going to run a quick pass back and forth to make sure that I'll be able to do the cut in the right area with enough room.
Now that I'm satisfied and ready to go, put your helmet on, making sure that you're in cut mode. I'm going to get myself ready, find the distance away from my guide, give a quick little run, and when I'm ready to go, hood down and pull the trigger.
Now as you can see, once I unclamp it, I got a pretty good cut going through here. It looks like I rotated my wrist a little bit about three-quarters of the way through and then caught it at the end and fixed it right up.
It's going to be a little warm, but we'll grab it. As you can see, that's a pretty nice line. It's not completely straight, but sometimes a little bit happens.
My name is PJ, and that's how you cut a straight line with a plasma cutter.
