Axle

Axles are an important structural component of wheeled equipment and vehicles. The axles maintain the position of the wheels relative to each other and to the equipment body. Since for most equipment the wheels are the only part touching the ground, the axle must bear the weight of the equipment plus any cargo, and also any acceleration forces or vibration between the equipment and the ground.
