Subject:

Drive Belt Keeper Rod 747-05444.

 

PURPOSE: The 747-05444 drive belt keeper rod is being offered to keep the drive belt from coming off the transmission pulley under certain operating conditions when the drive belt is disengaged on the above listed models in the affected serial number range.

ACTION REQUIRED: If a complaint exists of the drive belt continuously coming off when the drive is disengaged, order and install a 747-05444 drive belt keeper rod. See Page 2 for belt keeper rod installation instructions.

Belt Keeper Rod Installation Procedure:

1.Park unit on flat level surface.

2.Lower the mower deck to the lowest position.

3.Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal first, then disconnect the positive battery cable from the positive battery terminal.

4.Chock both front tires so that the tractor cannot roll in forward or backwards.

5.Raise the rear of the unit and safely support with jack stands.

6.Remove the right rear wheel for access.

7.Remove the two (2) 5/16”-18 x .750” hex washer screws that secure the hydro mount bracket to the transmission torque bracket. See Figure 2.

8.Install the 747-05444 drive belt keeper over the hydro mount bracket with the depressed side facing outward. See Figure 1 and Figure 3.

9.Secure with the two (2) 5/16-18 x .750” hex washer screws removed in Step 7 and tighten securely.

See Figure 3.

10.The 747-05444 drive belt keeper rod is positioned to the out side of the drive belt. See Figure 3.

11.Install the right rear wheel and torque to 160 - 190 in. lbs. (13 - 16 ft. lbs).

12.Lower the unit safely to the ground and remove the chocks from the front tire.

13.Connect the positive battery cable to the positive battery terminal first, then connect the negative battery cable to the negative battery terminal.

14.Raise the mower deck to the middle position.

15.Start and run the unit, confirm that all safety features are operating properly.
